Collection: Darcy Wilks
Darcy Wilks is an artist from Birmingham, Alabama. Her work is primarily inspired by materials. She sources her materials from re-worked pieces of her art, findings in her studio and anything else that catches her interest.
She approaches materials with the intent to decontextualize and deconstruct. This allows the material to be isolated from its original form and space and she is able to partner with the specific material and manipulate it into a new being.
In most of her work, she blurs the line between the 2D and the 3D. She fondly calls her work painting in the 3D. Her goal as an artist is to change the way people see the world and materials around them by bringing the fragmented to completion.
For this series and collaboration, Darcy explored the intricacies humanity has experienced within the past two years of isolation, metamorphosis, and coming out of the cocoon. Does one fall back to busyness or can one fall into the shadows and movements of a stilled life?
